Overview

We would love you to be involved in God’s mission, both locally and globally. Your giving supports workers in the Philippines, China, Ukraine, Thailand, Indonesia, Tanzania, and Australia. We appreciate your continued support throughout 2010 as we continue to transform nations and mend lives.

There are great opportunities to work with our partners in these nations which have a great need for Christian witness.

2009: Last year, Nexus Church raised over $300,000 for Global Outreach. This included regular support for 19 different missionaries and finance for 25 projects above and beyond our missionary support. Projects included Bible Translation in Africa and Asia, a biodiesel project in the Ukraine, water filters in Cambodia and Indonesia, renovations of the River Centre and Kids Club materials for Wallumbilla and Aurukun. We also supported crisis relief in Sri Lanka, Haiti and Samoa and initiated a Church Partnership with Compassion in Tanzania.

Just as each person from Nexus intentionally influences those around them, we support a number of people who are being missionally effective in the nations of the world. We also support workers in some other countries but can not identify them for security reasons. Nexus is proud to support the following people.

Rudy and Lara with their children Esther and Zinah (pictured above left) are part of a community development team working in Hang Dong.

As they minister to the poor, to youths and children, and liase with the local government, they are seeing hope and life come into individual lives and families.

Their community outreach includes Kids Clubs, School Ministry, food parcels and home help to people living with AIDS, ministry to the tribal people in the mountains and they will soon be commencing a SHINE program for women.  A number of these projects are held at the River Centre. Their hope is to commence a vocational training centre for young people wanting to learn trades and other skills. This will be held at the River Centre which they are currently renovating, turning a former brothel into a place for families. Rudy and Lara work under the leadership of Erik and Marianna Klar (pictured above right).

Tanzania

Nexus Church have been in partnership with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Uganda and Tanzania for the past 12 years.  Through this partnership many have come to know Christ through receiving a Bible in their own language.  This will be the third year of specific sponsorship of two translators Frank Mwaluanda and Lukas Mwahalende.

Frank works in literacy training in the nine different languages the organisation is working in. Literacy training is an important part of ensuring people can read the scriptures as they are produced. Lukas translates for Kimalila, and is currently working with a colleague on Acts.

Wayne and Olya have a growing church in the town of Kaharlyk where they have impacted the community and won favour with the local council. They have commenced their biodiesel project and recently signed a contract to collect oil from McDonalds. Their hope is to not only provide jobs for the local community but to create opportunities to minister into the lives of employees and raise enough funds to finance their ministry work. Philippines

Warren and Kayleen and their church in Lapu Lapu city have established the Tribal Training Centre in Mindanao in the Philippines. They send a team, several times a year, to the various Manobo Tribes where they offer medical assistance, ministry to the children and share the Gospel. Many of these people have never seen a white person let alone heard the name of Jesus. They have had tremendous success and many have come to know Jesus. From the villages that are now Christian they choose potential leaders and send them to the Training Centre where they will be discipled and grown in the things of God.

Sponsoring children  Tanzania
We are partnering with three projects in Shirati, Tanzania. Each project has up to 100 children waiting to be sponsored. The benefits of arranging your sponsorship from children allocated to the church partnership is that we will all be sponsoring children from the same area. This brings a great advantage in that we can arrange for short-term teams to visit and assist with local community with development projects.
