Awaken Youth Camp 2013: Testimonies

This year the annual youth camp took place at Currimundi Active Recreation Centre where the youth for two days and two nights immersed themselves in God's presence.  Lives were changed and friendships forged as every person who attended grew in their relationship with God and each other. Below are a few amazing testimonies from those who attended the camp: Youth Nurim: I received more of Jesus, more of His grace and love. God totally came and swept me off my feet. Just bursting more and more and more fire as I asked him to take me higher wider and deeper in Him. He gave me countless prophecies, vision, dreams, and great promises that I treasure close to my heart. I have encountered God in such a radical way and now I am on fire for God and I cant help but contain this indescribable joy that God has blessed me with. Awaken Youth Camp 2013!

This weekend 150 of Nexus One's youth group will make their way to Currimundi for the annual Awaken Youth Camp. Over the course of two nights and two days the youth will have awesome times of fellowship, tribal warfare, beach games, bonfires and loads of fun together. The weekend is all about getting closer to God, deepening their relationship with Him, and building greater friendships with each other! Special guest speakers from Bethel Church Chad and Julia Dedmon are really excited to be here to spend time with the youth and speak into their lives, and activate them to step into their full potential. They are passionate about releasing the Kingdom of Heaven wherever they go, reaching the nations with the gospel, and loving people! Check out some pics of today's preparations for the weekend.

Nexus Young Adults Connect Group Update

Nexus YA have created a network of connect groups which meet on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis. Eleni Ali who recently met with her connect group talked about how the Young Adults have created friendships and community through these meetings. "It creates friendships and a sense of community...With our connect groups we can talk to them about literally anything and have extremely deep conversations about topics we feel we can't talk to anyone else about."  Paired with a bible study and the SOAP (Scripture,Observation,Application and Prayer) method, our Young Adults are growing in friendships and their relationship with God.  

Alpha Testimony

Alpha is a practical introduction to the Christian Faith, an opportunity for people from all walks of life to explore the meaning of life in a relaxed setting over 8 thought-provoking weekly sessions. This week we received an incredible testimony from our last Alpha course:  Lope, is a young 60 year old man from the Philippines and was only in Australia for one year. Lope attended the Alpha Course Term 1, 2013. On our Alpha Saturday, Lope had a powerful encounter with God and accepted Jesus Christ as his Saviour, with which he says has changed his life. Since the course he has been meeting regularly with his table hosts to learn more about God. Lope is now heading back to the Philippines and says when he gets home he will be gathering people in his home to tell them about Jesus. Praise God!     

Pastoral Induction of Linda Reinhardt

On Sunday 21st April we had the honour of inducting Linda Reinhardt into Pastoral Ministry at Nexus. Bryan and Linda have been attending Nexus for over 10 years. Linda commenced on staff almost six years ago and has worked in various roles including Missional Assistant, Missions Director, Sozo Director, Personal Assistant to the Senior Pastor, Church Administrator and is now the Transformations Pastor overseeing Pastoral Care, Prayer and Sozo.  Linda is passionate about seeing people come into the fullness of all that God has for them, including growth and freedom. Linda is a real team player, is extrememly dedicated and hard working and has a heart for God, His house and people. Linda is very loved by her friends, co-workers and our Nexus community and we are very blessed to have her on the team here at Nexus.

Jane Cozzi is doing an Internship in the Communications Department here at Nexus. She is very capable and intelligent and is a great help to have on the Team. This week we welcome Kay Phiri a hard-working and dedicated woman with a heart after God and a passion for serving in the community. I am a registered nurse by profession, with a specialty in cardiac ICU, however I am transitioning to community services with a diploma in community services which I am very passionate about. Currently I am studying mental health at Caboolture TAFE. I also volunteer at Priceless Life Centre as a pregnancy support worker. What are your hobbies or favourite things to do?  I love to read christian books such as Joyce Meyer. Watching detective movies is one of my ways to relax after a long day. LINDY CHAMBERLAIN-CREIGHTON Lindy is quite literally Australia's own piece of 'living history'.  Her story has been well publicised in the Australian media and in a movie where she was portrayed by Meryl Streep.
